Who we are

This website, georgesbertrand.com, is operated by GBA, Georges Bertrand Architects (“GBA”, “we”, “us”), with main offices in Mkalles, Lebanon, and points of operation in Dubai, Greece and Cyprus.

What we collect

When you send us an enquiry through the contact form, we collect the information you provide:

• the type of client you are (for example homeowner or developer)
• your name and email address
• your phone number and company, if you choose to give them
• your message

When you visit the website, our servers and security services automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the date and time of your visit.

When you contact us directly by email or WhatsApp, we receive the details you share in that conversation.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and discuss a potential project (steps taken at your request before any contract)
• To manage our relationship with you if you become a client (performance of a contract)
• To keep the website secure, prevent spam and fix technical problems (our legitimate interests)
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations where they apply

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Who processes it for us

We use trusted service providers to run this website. They process data only to provide their service to us:

• Website hosting, which stores the website and the data sent through it
• Site Mailer, which delivers the emails generated by the contact form and keeps a log of them
• Akismet (by Automattic), which may check submissions to filter spam
• Jetpack (by Automattic), which provides security and site-management features
• LiteSpeed Cache, which speeds up the website
• WhatsApp (by Meta), if you choose to contact us through our WhatsApp link; your conversation is then subject to WhatsApp’s own privacy policy

Some of these providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data protection law requires it, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed for it to work, stay secure and load quickly. The website does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as needed to handle them, and for up to two years afterwards in case you come back to us about the same project. If you become a client, we keep project records for as long as the law and our professional obligations require. After that, we delete or anonymise the data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and Lebanon’s Law No. 81 of 2018, you may have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you
• correct inaccurate data
• ask us to delete your data
• object to or restrict how we use it
• receive your data in a portable format
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To exercise any of these rights, email enquiries@georgesbertrand.com. We will reply within one month. If you are in the EU, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and regular backups. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

This website is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with its date at the top.
